Our son is hanging in there and letting his presences or muscles known. Yes, Mama knows you got some punches in you and you can’t wait to show them off to all your aunties and uncles. But you’ll have to wait exactly 13 more weeks, not too long.
We went to a doctor’s appointment last week and the infamous heartbeat was strong and fast, all seems to be normal thus far. At the visit, we also received our regular newsletter letting us know what to expect at this stage in the pregnancy, some do’s and don’ts and ways to stay comfortable. Enclosed in the newsletter is also a kick count card. We didn’t get one for Katie but for this baby, the nurse practitioner sounded really serious in telling us to fill it out every night after 28 weeks and bring it in with every appointment. Gosh, things have sure changed in just two years (difference between my pregnancies).
The nurse practitioner also ordered a couple blood tests to make sure my body was doing ok with the pregnancy. A close friend and I met on Saturday morning to do the one hour glucose test. My friend, Rachel is due with her third baby, first girl a week before me! I received a call from Kaiser yesterday to say that my glucose score was very high 230 over 139 to be exact and that I need to go back ASAP for a possible three hour glucose test. I am scheduled to go in tomorrow morning so no eating tonight after 10pm and to go in first thing tomorrow morning at 7am for an initial blood test. If the sugar level is above 94, the three hour glucose test will not be necessary. My doctors can pretty much diagnosis that I have gestational diabetes. However, if the sugar level is below 94, I may continue with the three hour glucose test to see how fast and if my body is able to break down the sugar. There could be a possibility that I may not have gestational diabetes. It will be an eventful morning no less.
