Last night, after a couple slices of pizza, the baby inside started to dance around striking punches and jabs in all direction. But of course as soon as I told the Daddy to come and feel, the action halted. So, I had him sit still and keep his hand on my belly while I drink some water (room temperature) and sure enough, Yogi felt a jab in the corner, probably from one of the legs.
I have been feeling the baby’s movements for weeks now but none was detectable from the outside until last night. It is an amazing feeling to be able to share the miracles of a growing human being inside with others on the outside. Katie also seems very curious and interested in touching and feeling my belly. She usually feels for the baby, gives it a kiss and then pulls my shirt over to cover the belly once she’s done. It’s the cutest thing.
Besides the movements, the baby and I are doing well. The belly is growing of course and starting to get in the way of me going about my day. I've had to walk slower to avoid cramps, eat slower to avoid heart burn, drive safer to avoid turning into a crazy driver, you name it. I bought two pairs of shoes this past weekend for my growing feet. I bet it is starting to swell again so best to lay low on the salts…which is a tough one for me but a must should I not want to continue buying shoes. Otherwise, I'm sleeping well and even better after a long day of running around town or just the house behind the 18 month munchkin on the outside.
And finally the count down continues as a we get closer to March 5th, the day we'll be getting an ultrasound to check the baby's growth and possibily the sex. Woo hoo, just a short week and a half away!!

Year of the Tiger!
We purposely skipped or were too lazy to send a holiday card to close out 2009; instead, we're stealing our sister-in-law's idea and sent this Happy New Year card to family and friends far and near:
We also waited on the greeting card to include a little announcement to our new blog and our soon arriving little one. So, if you are tuning in by route of this card, WELCOME!! Glad you can join us :o)
Quick update: I am 16 and a half weeks or 4 months along. We'll try to find out the sex of the baby at an ultrasound appointment on March 5th. I don't feel much difference between this baby and Katelinh thus far; although, I don't recall much of the pregnancy details with Katelinh. I have been asked whether or not I am having twins on more than one occasion in the past couple weeks. Not very flattering on my figure! Regardless, I am happy to be healthy with the belly as I am eating well, sleep long (on nights I don't have to be on duty with Katie) and relaxing with a couple sessions of prenatal yoga a week. I have been feeling the baby move since about 12 weeks into the pregnancy. There are more punches this time or thus far verses what I can recall with Katie. Who knows, maybe it is trying to yelp in on what I'm eating. As for Katelinh, she's hanging in there with us. She doesn't quite understand why Mommy doesn't want to hold her as often but she's just as happy being held by Daddy. She is remembering to kiss her baby brother/sister on a regular basis and curious as to what to expect next. We have noticed Katie loves babies and is a natural babysitter except there's a lot more training before we'll leave these two troublemakers (yes already) alone together.
As for the year of the tiger, we have no tiggers on my side of the family but I believe on Yogi's side, his older brother and niece are tigers. Also, some famous ones like Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Stevie Wonder, Marilyn Monroe, and Demi Moore were also born in the year of the tiger. Here's a blurb of what to expect of them:
'Tiger is naturally forgiving, rarely holding grudges for long, it symbolize eternal family values, rate highly friends support and care. Tiger people are difficult to resist, for they are magnetic characters and their natural air of authority confers a certain prestige on them. They are tempestuous yet calm, warm-hearted yet fearsome, courageous in the face of danger yet yielding and soft in mysterious, unexpected places. They enjoy life full of challenges and unexpected events, like visiting unusual places and meet interesting outstanding people. Other people in their part are easily attracted by the tiger's enthusiasm and the course of life. Tiger person finds a pleasure in unpredictable, and while other people would rather make a backward step, he/she is not afraid to explore new and unusual. But it is not that simple to interest the tiger. What they really need is first-hand experience. Usually open and frank, these people are likely to withdraw and you can be aggressive when trapped. As soon as the tiger person has regained his/her sense of security his/her confidence also returns, enabling him/her to set out once more. These people usually tend to trust their instincts, though there is another side of their personality, which assesses situations thoughtfully before launch any actions. Their friends usually secretly admire their determination and optimism, though sometimes may find it complicated to share the tiger's enthusiasm and can be pushed away and left behind.' http://www.gotohoroscope.com/chinese-zodiac-tiger.html

Chinese Birth Calendar
So, there’s a chart floating around called the Chinese Birth Calendar. Most of us use it to predict the sex of our unborn babies. Others use it to confirm whether or not the chart was right on their already born babies. I may have shared it in Katie’s blog while I was pregnant with her or you may have heard of it by other sources.
The way the chart works is for the Mommy to connect her age at the time she gives birth to the month in which she conceived the baby. And whala, the connecting point should show an F for female and M for male. How can this work? Who knows but for Katie this was true. We shall see if it works its magic again and if it does, the chart indicates an M for our second baby. Any boy name suggestions?...hehe…
Here’s the link to one of the charts. There are many on the internet. I’m not sure if they’re all the same…

I have to say, I’ve heard the chart to be accurate for more babies than not. Have fun with it.

Screening
Yay!! We’ve survived our first trimester and consequently, the fatigue and nausea are starting to subside…woo hoo! Unfortunately, that just makes room for other discomforts such as heartburn and itchiness around the tummy where it is stretching all over again. Regardless, I am able to get plenty of rest crashing as early as 8pm on certain nights. I don’t care what shows I’m missing, this baby wants me in bed! Hmm…could be a lazy one we got here. If I am able to stay up after dinner, I like to pop in the prenatal yoga dvd and stretch out with Katie dancing around with moves of her own evading Daddy’s grasps for bedtime :o) Btw, the Father-to-be…again is doing an awesome job inside and outside of our home. He’s been very supportive caring for Katie, cooking, cleaning and especially picking up my cravings…hehe…we love you Y-Bear!
Now back to business… We went to a prenatal screening this afternoon at an outsourced ultrasound facility because Kaiser didn’t have appointments available. The screening is to determine the chances that our baby could be born with down syndrome. We have no known cases of down syndrome in both of our families but since Kaiser is paying for the screening, we didn’t mind knowing and it couldn’t hurt knowing. We had done the same screening for Katie two years ago.
The complete screening includes two blood tests and an ultrasound in between which are all time sensitive and needs to be done at certain weeks during the pregnancy. I forgot what exactly the docs check for in my blood but at the ultrasound screening, the technician searched for all the baby’s major body parts inside and out, a couple of my organs and reproductive system. I believe the most important part is the baby’s spine. Once the ultrasound was complete, the technician reviewed the baby’s photos and results from my first blood test. Moments later, she gave us great odds that our baby does not have down syndrome, great news! I’ll still get my second blood test in a few weeks that should support their results :o)
Below are our souvenirs from the ultrasound visit today.
And finally, YES we took the opportunity to harass the technician a little bit about finding the sex of the baby. She started by offering a 55% accurate guess before she even began searching. After she found it and looked, she says she’s 60% sure. She told us her guess but we’ll keep it out of play for now in case the other 40-45% is true ;o) We’ll get a higher percentage at the March 5th ultrasound.

Head and tummy.
Is it sucking its hand?
That's probably a middle finger at the technician for disturbing its nap.
The other arm.
One leg...
...and the other leg.
Yogi and I are almost positive we got the same technician who screened Katie two years ago. Of course, the person screens so many moms in a day, there was no way she remembers. And, she wouldn’t think that the little bug inside of me 2 years ago was wiggling around in the room wanting to leave. Haha…yes, Katie was introduced to her little bro/sis for the first time today. She couldn’t make out the baby on the screen and was freaked out over the technician, the dim room, and the looks of all the mechanics reminded her a lot of her doctor’s office where they give shots…hehe…And finally, YES we took the opportunity to harass the technician a little bit about finding the sex of the baby. It's coming...
The butterflies are coming! Do you Mommies remember the first time you felt your babies move inside of you? It was probably earlier than you thought since it feels truly like butterflies in your stomach and wouldn’t think twice about it…for me anyway :o) With Katie, I first felt these tingles at around 17 weeks after a bowling game as a matter of fact (used a really light ball). Sure enough the tingles got more frequent and after a couple of weeks, it built into waves.
At my appointment last Friday, the nurse noted a few things about this second pregnancy that will be apparent earlier such as the tummy popping out, fatigue, tightening of ligaments around the belly and feeling the baby move. Naturally, after that note I started to consciously notice the changes in my body and sure enough over the weekend, I felt the tingles!! I'm only 12 weeks (3 mths) which is way early but I have no doubt, it is my baby telling me it likes the television drama 24 as much as Mommy and Daddy does...hehe... Seriously, there's no better feeling and confirmation that your baby is alive and well inside besides them telling you yourself. I’m very excited for more in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I’m rubbing it into hubby who has no clue…haha…
BTW, mark your calendars for March 5th!! The all important ultrasound has been scheduled. Lets just hope the baby doesn’t cross its legs :o)

11 weeks and 5 days
Yay!! We made it this far and you guys made it to our brand new blog site. WELCOME!! ...and YES, I'M PREGGO AGAIN!!
If you read backwards, we've known about this little one since November and have a cool little souvenir from our first appointment to prove it. Since then, I've been grubbing down all kinds of good foods to keep the nausea feeling away and starting to physically look ahead of the baby's time :o/ The eating has since slowed down a bit when I caught a cold last week. It took us nearly a whole week to live through it with no medications what-so-ever. We're definitely better now and hope that bad thing don't come back!!
We had our second appointment today to checkup on the baby and a full physical on Mommy. The physican looked me up and down, inside and out. All looks normal and healthy, baby included :o)
Our next appointment is in early March but will have other visits in between for testing that will give us an opportunity to check up on the little one. For right now, this tigger is hanging tough! Will see you aunts, uncles and cousins soon!!

The picture above is probably the best one of the day. We didn't get as lucky like we did with Katie to have full body shots. But heck, can't help it if this one couldn't stay put :o) We can already tell the facial structure look a tad familar like its older sister.
Baby looks like its being squeezed hence we went to Squeeze Inn afterwards for a big fat burger.
Doc said it must be a girl; it apparently has brains...lol...
...putting its foot out and shaking it about.

A Long 2010
Katie was sick last week as she started teething her molars. Inevitably, it got past to Mom which glued my behind to the couch for all of 2010 thus far. As most of you Moms know, being sick and pregnant is a very unfortunate cus there's only so many medications we can take and it all probably needs a doctor's approval if not prescription. So, I've preferred not to take any oral meds at all. Consequently, after 5 full days I still have congestion, coughing and some sore throat. It'll probably last for a few more days.
My next baby appointment is on Friday so hopefully we can get some advice from the OB to help get me out of this stump but most importantly show us that baby inside is doing regardless of what Mommy is dealing with on the outside :o)
Happy New Year everybody!!
